The Geffrard Foundation is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization founded in 2016 by Hymler Geffrard. The Foundation works to bring hope, opportunity, dignity, and second chances to individuals and families in under-resourced communities through housing, education, humanitarian assistance, community development, and partnerships.
The Foundation began after Hymler visited Haiti in 2016 and witnessed the living conditions of Nahomie, his father's assistant, who was still living under a tent six years after the 2010 earthquake. The Foundation's first project was to build Nahomie a home in Leogane, Haiti.
The Foundation's work has included initiatives in the United States and Haiti, as well as partnerships supporting projects in Africa. Our work is focused on responding to the needs of individuals and communities where we can make a meaningful difference.
Our work includes housing and homeownership initiatives, education and literacy, humanitarian and disaster relief, community assistance, clean-water projects, sustainable development, cycling and recreation, and partnerships with churches, nonprofits, businesses, and community organizations.
We work with individuals, families, and communities facing difficult circumstances or limited resources. We have a particular focus on helping single mothers achieve greater housing stability and independence, while also supporting broader community needs.
There are several ways to support the Geffrard Foundation, including making a donation, volunteering your time and skills, sharing our mission with others, and partnering with us on community initiatives.
We believe lasting change happens through collaboration. Churches, nonprofits, businesses, community organizations, and other groups interested in working together are encouraged to reach out to discuss potential partnerships.
We welcome individuals who want to contribute their time, skills, and energy to our mission. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact us to learn more about current opportunities.
Donations help support the Foundation's mission and initiatives, including housing, education, humanitarian assistance, community support, and community development projects.
The Geffrard Foundation has filed for 501(c)(3) status. Donations may be tax-deductible to the extent permitted by applicable law. Please contact the Foundation for the most current information regarding its tax-exempt status and donations.
